Cadets undergo intensive training on multimedia simulators

The fourth-year cadets of the Faculty of Logistics were trained on the Browning M2 and FIM-92 Stinger multimedia simulators. Thanks to modern computer equipment, the guardsmen learn how to shoot accurately at low-flying objects.

The Browning M2 VR training complex consists of a combat platform on which a combat heavy machine gun is mounted, which is used by the military to destroy short-range targets, such as "Shakhed" UAV. Wearing a VR helmet, the cadets observed the combat situation at 360 degrees. In the simulator program, you can build any scenarios that already include ballistic characteristics, errors for wind, and any weather conditions.

"In real life, it is very difficult to recreate an air target, but in virtual mode you can build any scenario. So, after training on the simulator, cadets will know how to behave in combat conditions when a real "Shakhed" is flying", -  one of the lecturers of the Fire Training Department says.

During training on the FIM-92 Stinger training complex with VR technology, the guardsmen consolidated their visual reconnaissance skills, identification of air targets, aiming and firing on different types of terrain and with different weather conditions. The simulator works with a special application that shows the instructor the actions of the shooter. The instructor can include tests for the operator, in which the air target will release heat traps. The simulator not only repeats the real sample, but also has the same organs of touch and sensitivity when practicing on the target. The guardsmen trained to shoot down planes, helicopters and UAVs.

"The software capabilities allow to simulate and reproduce the principles of portable anti-aircraft missile complex operation, create various training scenarios, namely, select air targets, adjust the flight trajectory, altitude and speed of target movement, select weather conditions and time of day, and analyze errors made by the operator during training", –  the lecturer adds.

In the future, the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine plans to replenish the training base of dynamic simulators and modernize the software.
