The National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine is completing the L-2 tactical level Command and Staff course, which lasted for 3 months.

During the final sessions, officers practiced solving tactical tasks in the backdrop of a specific tactical situation. Course participants made combat decisions according to the MDMP stages, worked out planning and directive documents in accordance with the tasks received, managed battalion units during changes in the tactical situation, and solved introductory tasks, improving teamwork skills.

The Head of the Department of professional training, Colonel Oleksandr Mynko, noted: "It is nice to see progress in the training of students. I am interested in observing how their personalities develop during the course, the level of knowledge and skills increases. In the training program, in addition to theoretical presentation of the material, we devoted a significant amount of study time to practical types of classes and now, at the end of the course, the department staff can assess the level of results obtained from our joint work with the students. Almost all lecturers at our Department have been trained in international courses and have significant practical, including combat, service experience."

The novelty of these classes was the involvement of representatives of the simulation center. The officers told about the specifics and types of the latest systems and methods of using simulation tools in the practice of training troops. The simulator is able to reproduce many options for performing an operation, determine which of them was the most effective, and apply it in practice.

"We develop a hypothetical task for the unit, indicating the exact number of servicemen and equipment involved, indicating the number of enemy’s manpower and equipment, marking their positions, indicating the route for our unit and observing the likely reaction of the enemy. Simulators take into account the physics of vehicles, ballistics, terrain, weather, and even predict the scattering of debris", – Lieutenant Ishchiuk Oleksandr, a Software Engineer at the Simulation Modeling Center told.

"Every officer who completes the L-2 level course gains the skills and abilities to perform the duties of a battalion headquarters officer. This course was quite intensive and eventful. You need to learn and improve constantly", – a student of the course Roman Kysil said.
