NATO tactics. How the representatives of the Canadian Armed Forces help to improve the training of future officers

The National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine hosted a meeting between the leadership of the education institution and representatives of the Operation UNIFIER.

"We have already a well-established relationship with the Canadian Armed Forces, so the main task for today will be to determine the nearest plans and priorities for the future. All international meetings held on the basis of the Academy motivate to positive changes in the educational process ", – said the First deputy Head of the Academy for educational, methodological and scientific work, Major General Olexandr Morozov.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the provision of assistance to the lecturers of the Department of Tactics of the Academy in training programs improving, participation in additional joint classes for cadets.

In addition, representatives of the foreign delegation will hold a meeting with cadets of the Faculty of Humanities in the format of "Speaking club".

"After the last meeting, we worked a lot on the programs, keeping in touch with the head and lecturesrs of the Department of Tactics. Now, we are ready to continue  helping you to implement the new standards in the Academy's educational programms ", said Major Peter Costello, Liaison Officer and Commander of the NGU UNIFIER Training Team.

The Ukrainian and Canadian sides agreed that the three UNIFIER militarymen would work together with the Academy's representatives in certain areas for two weeks. In addition, they discussed a plan of action for this period and agreed to hold classes with cadets and briefings with faculty members and officers of the Euro-Atlantic Integration Department.

The Head of the Tactics department, Colonel Yevhen Bashkatov, spoke about the main changes and reforms that have taken place since the last meeting with the foreign side. He noted that the Department of Tactics is completely changing the training programs for cadets, from the first to the fourth year of study.

"At the command and staff faculty, we have already conducted testing of classes on approved topics, and at other faculties we will start in September 2021. In addition, during this period we conducted binary classes together with officers of the Directorate-General of the NGU on the analysis and assessment of the situation ", added Colonel Yevhen Bashkatov.

Next week, a working group of Armed Forces of Canada representatives  and the Academy will continue their cooperation in the above areas.
